Best Recipe for Boilermaker Sauce
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 2 large garlic cloves, minced
- 1 12-ounce bottle chili sauce
- 3/4 cup beer
- 1/4 cup unsulfured (light) molasses
- 3 tablespoons cider vinegar
- 3 tablespoons bourbon whiskey
- 1 1/2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon hot pepper sauce (such as Tabasco)
Instructions
- Heat oil in heavy medium saucepan over medium heat. Add onion and garlic; sauté until tender, about 8 minutes. Reduce heat. Add chili sauce, beer, molasses, vinegar, bourbon and Worcestershire sauce. Simmer until reduced to 2 cups, stirring occasionally, about 25 minutes. Stir in hot pepper sauce. (can be made up to 1 month ahead. Cover; chill.)
